I don't do special speedworks because I want to avoid injures (the 2 operations are again a recent memory) but I am doing the workouts with runners faster than me and it works a lot.
Before the marathon? A big Pizza Margherita.
Avoid colds? Vegetables, taking care and a lot of luck.
Hapy New Year to you and family.Black Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09283409222072090440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6715235341995717590.post-29682739417605473932011-12-30T20:06:48.991-07:002011-12-30T20:06:48.991-07:00Hear, hear Jill!! Wouldn't have traded it for the world!

You are too good to me Terzah!

I remember hiking as a teen. We were chugging along and got tired so stopped. An elderly couple passed us and waved. We pushed ahead again and passed them only to rest out of breath and they passed us again, waving. After 4 or 5 rounds of this dance the older gentleman stopped, looked me in the eye and said: "Chinese proverb: Slowly, slowly, little monkey." Or runner. I hate to always go back to my past, but I know when I started doing umpteen shorter races in the spring/summer, my fall marathon was so much faster than before!

That's fantastic your weight has not skyrocketed this holiday (as mine has - whaaaa), you are so very good and these next couple weeks will be tough but you can do it! I so look forward to turning the calendar, letting these past few months go, and refocusing. Diet will be high on that list!

I almost chocked on my popcorn when I read that the Rock Canyon Half was your favorite race. Shorter races (up to 1/2 marathon) and focus on my speed. And hey, 5k goals seem worth too -- though I've absolutely no experience there (scared of them!!).

So you had two separate plans written for each of the marathon's? You just didn't use the first one over? I'm just curious. I got my plan on Christmas eve and have been digesting it ever since. Part of me thinks it may not be enough and part of me is relieved I think I can manage it.
