Dan and me on our honeymoon in Kauai, 2005 (pre-kids; we look young)

Welcome to my blog and thanks for reading.

My name is Terzah, and I'm a public librarian, wife to Dan and mom of twins, Will and Ruth, born in 2006. We live in beautiful Boulder County, Colorado, home to elite endurance athletes of all stripes. It's an intimidating but amusing place to be an average runner.

Boulder Reservoir, site of many of my training runs.

I've been a runner on and off (but mostly on!) since I was 12 years old. In my pre-kids life, I completed three marathons and enough shorter races that I've actually lost count. I started running again about three months after the twins' birth, but I didn't have time to get "serious" about it again until the fall of 2010, when my attempt to finish the Boulder Half-Marathon in under two hours failed. My disappointment was such that I knew something had to change. I needed a lofty goal, a training and nutrition overhaul and some discipline.

Ruth and Will, angel and shepherd.
Qualifying for the Boston Marathon has been hovering in the back of my mind for several years. As a one-time newspaper reporter and editor, I like deadlines, so I chose my 40th birthday--Jan. 21, 2013--as my deadline (for good or ill) for this goal, and I created this blog in October 2010 to chronicle the journey and keep me, and hopefully others, inspired along the way.
